Westside Football Classic

Blake and Hunter both played in the Westside Football Classic this weekend.  Both of their teams got first place in their divisions.

Blake (7) going to receive his medal after his game.  He made the last two winning tackles both 2 yards from the goal line preventing their opponent (Minnesota Mustangs) from taking the win.

This is Hunter (18) posing with his team mates for the after game team photo.  He made many crucial tackles and blocks and played every play of the game except four when he got to stop for a drink.

Post Football Season

Hunter and Blake finished their regular football season this weekend.  Blake's 49ers ended with an exciting win in the last 20 seconds of the game.  Blake got to make the first touchdown of the game.  Hunter's team ended in an odd sort of forfeit by the coach.  We all walked away scratching our heads.  It appears he was not aware the game was almost out of time.  Ooops.  No matter how the season ended they had a great time playing and really enjoyed their teams.

It is now time for Select Football season.  They are both playing on tournament teams for their future High School - Valley.  They will have a tournament this weekend.  It appears Hunter will be playing his normal positions of fullback and middle line backer and Blake will be trying a new position as wide receiver.  Should be interesting to watch.  Above they are shown in their new uniforms.

A little sidenote:  Hunter has decided to try basketball this year.  He starts on Tues.  He has gotten a lot taller this year so he is suddenly getting invitations to play basketball.

Loop the Oaks

This morning Adam, Blake, Hunter and Dave ran the first annual Loop the Oaks in Glen Oaks.  This is a 5K around the neighborhood.  What makes this especially challenging is the hills.  There were 87 runners.  One was a marathoner that won, but our very own Blake was second overall.  Followed by Adam in 4th place and Hunter and Dave coming in 6 and 7.  The Underwoods ruled th Oaks!

Bragging Rights

We're his proud grandparents :)
We received this email from our daughter writing about her firstborn:

Hunter has been invited to the Extended Learning Program (ELP) at school for math.
This is for the top math students.
Seven kids in the sixth grate at his school passed the test to be in the program.

He is very excited. Today they learned about pi and calculating the speed of light.

The Mailman and the Terminator

This year Blake plays on the 49ers and has been awarded the title of  TheTerminator by his coaches for his middle line backer tiger-like prowess.  Here he is in his shirt from the coaches.  He also plays full back.

Hunter plays for the Dolphins and has been given the nickname of The Mailman because at full back he always delivers.  He also plays middle line backer.

I wanted to share a few video clips of Hunter but I can't seemed to download them successfully.  Sorry.

Both Hunter and Blake were invited to play on their age groups select teams.  They are both moving to Valley Tigers Black Select after the regular season.  They will play in tournaments into November.  One will be in Omaha.  They are very excited to be chosen for these teams.
