And Team Carson is walkin'

Adam sent me a couple real-time photographs to post as the Diabetes Walk is off and running...Team Carson has raised $811 diabetes-cure dollars so far...

Landon wants to get going...

Walk for Carson at the JDRF

This last year our 4-year-old nephew Carson (Kim’s brother Kerry’s son) was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. It was pretty rough in the beginning, but he has since been given an insulin pump so life is relatively back to normal these days. Please donate what you can to the cause. Kim, Landon and I will be doing the walk this weekend in the downtown Des Moines skywalk system and will post an update on our blog afterward, we promise.

Please help us reach our fundraising goal of $100.00 by making an online donation by visiting our personal fundraising page. Donating is quick, easy and secure!

Thanks, Adam

Uncle Virg does Easter dinner

Grandpa Al and I drove to Fort Myers today where we dined at Virg's poolside table.

A proper greeting...with a smile :)

Then a table with turkey and all the fixings.
And three hours of pleasant conversation.

And he cleaned up, too, while we sat back in our chairs.
A host for all seasons.
It's amazing how calmly he turned out the food
and still put in a game of 18 holes before we arrived.
I guess his ovens have timers and delay gadgets
to set for roasting in his absence.

2012 Spring Fever NIT

Baseball 2012

Blake is in the middle of second row and Dave is the coach on the end to the left.
It is baseball season again! Blake and Hunter are both on new teams.

Blake has come full circle and is back on the Mustangs (his first competitive team back in 2008). The Mustangs have rebuilt their team and are better than ever. They are rated as a Major team
which means they are in the top 10% of the teams in the state. So far they have played three games together and have won them all. Blake keeps getting better and is super excited about his new team.

The have been invited to play in an invitation only tournament April 21st called Battle of the Borders. This is the top 4 teams from Iowa and Nebraska battling it out for their state. Should be exciting to see the best of the best battle it out!

Hunter has moved to the Diamondbacks. Also a new team. It is made up of the top players from his old Rattlers and a collection of better players from several other higher ranked teams. They are starting out at AA, but expected to be moved up to AAA mid season. They have a lot of talent on their team so they won't be able to keep the AA status long. They started their season Tues with a 9-1 win.

Hunter still has his magic touch on the mound and has continued to developed at bat. He is really coming close to that homerun in left field.

This weekend the Diamondbacks will be playing in a tournament. They are short a player so Blake will be joining them for the tournament. We will try to post some photos from the games.

Landon's been geocaching...

Landon found a geocache in Lake Carlos State Park
while visiting Grandma Bev this weekend.
He found a box with Minnesota collectors' cards in it.
