Meals from the Heartland

Today Hunter's 5th Grade Class volunteered to work at the Meals from the Heartland project at Hy Vee Hall downtown Des Moines.  Hunter's team was headed by Mrs. Underwood (that took some getting used to).  We had 8 team members and completed 11 boxes of food (the highest # for Mr. Wise's class).  We fed close to 400 people.  We spilled a little rice and had a little trouble getting coordinated at times, but for the most part we ran a pretty tight ship.  When we left the entire group of volunteers for that day had created over 200,000 bags of food to be shipped to Haiti.  They had 4 more hours left to go so we don't know the total for the day.
