New Turkish Lira almost always have Ataturk's face on one side. Ataturk is to the Turkish people what George Washington is to us. On the other side of the coin/paper note they will often have a famous building or place. I am guessing that the other coin/note you mentioned is from Kyrgyzstan. They call their paper money "som" there. Great Aunt Linda
