2 for 1 Party

Adam is a Norway fan and kept talking about Syttende Mai day coming up so Kim decided to surprise him with a 40th birthday party a couple days early.
He came home from work and found the Underwoods and Jerdees in the house
with a long table filled with Norske-style appetizers.
We enjoyed open-face sandwiches, cheeses, flatbreads, lefse, salad and lots of color.

The lefse roll plate was emptied first!

Champagne, anyone? Ser~ed with a Kim-style smile :)

Thumbs-up for the food from Blake :)

Adam prefers pecan pie to birthday cake. Landon helps him blow out the candles.
Hunter made the flag garland (in background) when he was 5.

For an after-dinner sip, Adam pulled the old bottle of Aqua ~it out of the cupboard.
Ice cubes from the cooler stuck to the bottle :)

Shots for the aged ones.
The boys were playing ball in the yard.

Happy 40th, Adam!

6th Grade All District Track Meet

Today was the 6th grade track meet for the entire school district (about 800 kids). Here is Hunter with his awards.  He went away with first place in his heat for the 100m and All District 100 m Champion, first place in the 4 x 100 and Sprint Medley relays and All Distrct Champions for both relays (Hunter ran the 100m in both).  He also got 4th in the 800m, but he was tripped by two other kids in his race and was left with big scrapes on his elbow and knees.  He as tough and got up and ran after his spill and ended up getting 4th place.

All the kids in the district.

Mother's Day

All I asked for this Mother's Day was a home run.  So Hunter got me three.

Hunter Subs

Hunter played for the Lynx this weekend in two tournaments.  The first one was a one night, four team, two game tournament where they placed 2nd.  Hunter closed the first game with three up and three down.  It was the first time the Lynx had beat the Rockies.

The second tournament was the America's Game.  Hunter closed all but two games.  They had a tough batttle in both of the final round games landing them in 4th out of 15 teams.  Hunter hit two balls to the fence.  He didn't allow any runs until his final inning.

Next weekend he will be back on his regular team The Sticks Red playing in Bettendorf, IA.

Earth Day in Valley Junction

An Earth Day race attracted the Jerdee family to West Des Moines' historic Valley Junction today.

A big cookie for energy before racing.

 Landon ran the Kids' Race...

 ...smiling all the way.
He likes to run like dear old Dad!

There's a medal at the end plus lots of adulation and a nice big drink of water  :)
