Jr. Golfer at Glen Oaks

Hunter participated in the Jr. Golf program at Glen Oaks this summer.  This weekend was the final weekend.  He ended the program 3rd in the 9 hole boys competition Thursday morning.  He also earnned 28 points ($28) to spend in the Pro Shop.  He has been shopping for a couple weeks trying to decide what he going to get with his prize money.

This is the awards ceremony on Sunday night at the club.  On Sunday before the awards ceremony, we had a parent-child competition.  Dave and Hunter were a team and Blake and Amy were a team.  We did not place, but we had a great time.  See us below having fun.

Sometimes it was a lot like being at the beach.

After the golf event we decided to go to the pool.  We invited a few friends to come along.  It was also the end of the baseball season for Blake's Mustangs.  They had a little pool party.  All ten of his team mates were able to make it.  Here they are getting ready for some Olympic-style races and playing some water basketball.

Great way to end the busy part of summer.  For the next two weeks we plan to spend a lot of time relaxing, swimming and hanging out.  Then Football Season Starts!

Sports.... what else?

August is a challenging month.  We finish baseball season and start football season and this year we tuck as much golf and swimming in between as we can.

This is the All State Showcase Tournament where the boys that had been selected as contributing over and above in tournaments when their team placed got to play together for fun.  This is Hunters select team.  He was with the his only other team mate that participated in the tournament - Nic.

This is Blake's All State team and his only other team mate that participated in the event - Grant.

The boys had a great time.  It was a lot of fun to watch the best of the best play.  Very few errors, great plays and lots of great hitting!  Hunter still managed to strike 4 kids of 6 out.

Now we move onto football.  This is the boys in the skybox at a Barnstormers game with some of their buddies.  They went to the Barnstormers football camp and got to go onto the field with the players before the game.  It was quite a treat.  They got to stand next to the cheerleaders.

This year Hunter will be a Dolphin again.  Blake will be a 49er.  Blake also made the Valley Select team so he will be playing in a special tournament with his Valley jersey all printed up with the Underwood name.  #7.  We look forward to some good football this year!

For those out of towner Valley is their high school.

This week is the Jr. Golf Championship at Glen Oaks.  The Awards Ceremony is Sunday.  I will try to get some photos.

3-FOR-1 BIRTHDAY PARTY

We have so many summer birthdays that we have begun to combine them,

 depending on how our summer schedules line up. On July 20, those of us

 who are hitting the decade marks pooled our resources to celebrate.

 Originally, we planned an outdoor backyard grill-out

 but ended up indoors because of the heat wave.

Here's our lovely Kimmy who did the big 40 on July 7 this year.

Landon loves the birthday song and we sang it three times. First for Kim...

....then for Grandpa Al who was 70 0n July 8.

Third time around was singing the birthday song for Nana who will be 70 on November 13.

She usually doesn't get a party because of living in Florida during the winter. This year she insisted on sharing this milestone birthday with Grandpa Al.

Adventureland

Today was Landon's second visit to Adventureland. Adam sent a few pictures on his phone so we could follow the day. The Underwoods got their first experience at the new water park called Adventure Bay.

Summer Slam

The Diamond Backs had a bad State Tournament so they decided to try one last tournament this season.  They signed up for the Summer Slam.  They got First Place!

Blake played with Hunter again as a sub for a kid that moved away.   I tried to get a picture of them after the tournament.  They were not overly cooperative.  Out of 10 this is truly the best one I got.

Highlights from this tournament were:  it was between 90 - 100 degrees the whole time,  they played 5 games,  Nana Becky made it to two of the games, and Grandpa Al made it to four of the games.
