In Anticipation

The Underwoods and Jerdees are excited about the arrival of  visitors from Minnesota next Saturday.
All sorts of preparations are in the making for the Principal Charity Classic golf tournament on the Champions Tour. At the family host house, Hunter and Al gave the outdoor furniture a fresh coat,
Dave hooked a gas line to a new grill,
and Amy added Norwegian names to the guest list at the gate.
So far, the forecast looks terrific~~mid-80s instead of the usual mid-90s,
low humidity and no forecast of rain for Saturday...so far.
Golf umbrellas for shade from the sun await.

Events on Saturday:
6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Dam to Dam Half Marathon (Adam running)
June Jam Baseball Tournament (Dave coaching, Blake and Hunter playing)
Times/Fields TBD (Al chauffering baseball fans if needed)
Principal Charity Classic~~Blank Children's Hospital Family Day
8 a.m. - 5 p.m. "Second Round" Tournament Play
Kids Fun Zone during tournament hours (main entrance)
5:30-8:30 p.m. Golf Channel Coverage

Becky's looking forward to decorating the dining deck a little.
In anticipation, she's harboring these bedding plants on her condo balcony.

She'll move them to Amy's etagere on Friday while she learns the new traffic pattern designed for the golf tourney~~they're running one-way traffic around the country club
so that means a longer route to the house.

Another Weekend of Fun

This weekend we all attended the Windsor Heights Annual Mini Marathon or the WHAMM.  Some of us ran 6 miles, some of us walked 3 miles and some of us ran 100 meters.  All of us went to the fire station afterwards and had enourmous pancakes.  Here is Landon hanging out on the fire truck with the big boys Blake and his buddy Grant.

The rest of the weekend was spent on baseball.  Blake played in the Slugfest in the Des Moines area.  His team fought hard but landed in 7th place with a 2-2 record.  The last game was close enough to call it a scrape by for the other team.  They were just lucky!

Hunter and Dave went to Kansas City to play in the Kansas City Blowout.  They did that for sure.  Blew out all other team by a mile.  Still undefeated and came home with another 1st place.  (see Hunter's trophy above)

Monday morning at 8 am we all piled in the car to go to school an hour early so we could witness the annual
Chess Club Champoinship awards ceremony.  The club has nearly 100 kids.  There were two ways to win an award over the year.  One was to win a spot in your pool play group.  Hunter got 2nd place and Blake got 1st place in the pool play brackets, thus the medals they are wearing.

Then all the kids that got gold played off for the champion of the school.  See the tall trophy Blake is holding.  That is first place.  He added it up - he had to play 34 games to win that trophy.

Our weekend melted into Monday night as we celebrated Adam's birthday see below - does that say 39?  Uh Oh. Next year is the big 40!!

Happy Birthday, Adam

Landon likes the birthday song.
Landon likes to blow out birthday candles.

So he helped his dad blow out his 39th birthday candles.

We all were happy they weren't on top of the cake :)

Landon's 2nd Birthday on Mother's Day

OK, so all five of the Moms attending the Jerdees' backyard barbecue party on Mother's Day today played second fiddle to Landon's second birthday...same date :)
Nothing like getting 'er all done on the same day! Great time, great food with Kim and Adam's families coming by to share the day. Lovely people, all.
I can't say my pictures of everyone were worth anything so I concentrated on Landon cake and ice cream pictures.

Landon's First Haircut

Landon's parents brought him in for his first haircut...
just before he turns two on May 13.

Look into the mirror image behind Landon to see how long his hair
grew in the first two years of his life.
